Papuaaround.com – The Papua Provincial Government has reiterated its commitment to running an open, transparent, and people-oriented administration. Governor Matius Fakhiri emphasized this vision during the Thanksgiving Service and Papua People’s Festival held in Jayapura on Friday (October 31, 2025).

In his address, Governor Fakhiri underlined the importance of collaboration, unity, and sincerity in building a prosperous Papua. He stated that his administration would operate under the principles of love, honesty, and accountability to the public.

“We are not the best, but we will do our best. We will work with sincerity, lead with compassion, and listen with humility,” Fakhiri told thousands of attendees gathered at the event.

Since being inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto on October 8, 2025, the new Papua administration has been formulating strategic steps in coordination with central ministries and agencies. The development roadmap focuses on five main sectors: quality education and human resources, healthcare, community-based economy, infrastructure and connectivity, and clean governance.

In the education sector, the provincial government plans to expand scholarship programs, strengthen vocational schools, and promote digital learning systems. Fakhiri highlighted that education is a key driver of long-term progress and social equality in Papua, ensuring that future generations have the tools to compete nationally and globally.

Meanwhile, in the health sector, the government is designing initiatives such as telemedicine services and floating hospitals to reach remote coastal and highland communities. These innovations aim to close the healthcare gap between urban and rural areas and ensure that no citizen is left behind due to geographical barriers.

For economic growth, the provincial administration is promoting agriculture, fisheries, cooperatives, and small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) powered by digital platforms. This approach seeks to empower local communities as the main actors in regional development. “Economic independence must begin from the people. The government will act as a facilitator, not just a regulator,” Fakhiri noted.

In terms of infrastructure, Papua’s government has pledged to accelerate the construction of roads, bridges, ports, and digital networks. These projects are expected to reduce logistics costs, enhance regional connectivity, and stimulate local economies. Infrastructure expansion, according to Fakhiri, is essential to bridging inequalities and creating new opportunities for trade and investment across the province.

Fakhiri also stressed the importance of transparent and accountable financial management within the regional administration. He asserted that every public servant must uphold integrity and prudence in handling public funds. “I am not a politician, but a law enforcer. Therefore, caution and responsibility are crucial for anyone working with me,” he stated firmly.

The governor concluded his remarks by urging all Papuans to maintain unity and optimism in pursuing a peaceful and prosperous future. “Papua cannot be built with anger but with love and collective effort,” he said, closing his speech to applause from the audience.

The Papua People’s Festival, held at the provincial government’s courtyard, began with a thanksgiving prayer and featured performances by local and national artists. The event also showcased small business exhibitions and cultural activities that reflected the region’s diversity and spirit of togetherness.

Through this public gathering, the new administration sought to convey its vision of inclusive governance — one that prioritizes people’s welfare, strengthens trust in public institutions, and promotes harmony among communities across Papua.
