Papuaaround.com – Freny Anouw, SIP has once again been entrusted to lead the Regional Executive Council (DPW) of the United Development Party (Partai Persatuan Pembangunan/PPP) for Central Papua Province. His re-election was decided during the PPP Regional Congress (Musyawarah Wilayah/Muswil) for the Papua Raya region, held at Suni Hotel Abepura, Jayapura City, Papua Province, from Saturday (January 10, 2026) to Sunday (January 11, 2026).

The Regional Congress, themed “Nurturing Unity, Strengthening the Struggle of the Ummah,” served as an important strategic forum for PPP. In addition to determining new regional leadership, the meeting functioned as a platform for internal consolidation and for formulating the party’s direction and work programs ahead of the five-year national political agenda, particularly the 2029 General Election.

Chairman of the Central Executive Board (DPP) of PPP, Muhamad Mardiono, emphasized that the Regional Congress across Papua Raya represents an essential starting point for nationwide party consolidation. According to him, strengthening organizational structures at the regional level is a crucial step in rebuilding public trust and improving the party’s electoral performance in the future.

Mardiono stated that electoral political work must become the party’s main orientation. He underlined the importance of structured and measurable efforts to regain voter confidence and secure broader public support in the 2029 elections. He also explained that the consolidation process will continue in stages and will not end with the Regional Congress.

Following the completion of the Regional Congress, PPP plans to proceed with District Congresses (Musyawarah Cabang/Muscab) in all regions. This step aims to ensure that the party’s organizational readiness extends to the grassroots level. Mardiono added that the party targets full preparedness for the election verification phase by 2027, followed by the recruitment of legislative candidates in 2028 in preparation for the 2029 General Election.

Meanwhile, Freny Anouw described the Regional Congress as an important unifying forum for party cadres. He noted that the meeting was not merely a leadership selection process but also a reflection of the party’s consistency in upholding its values, ethics, and organizational integrity.

As a former member of the Papua Provincial Legislative Council prior to the establishment of Central Papua Province, Freny emphasized the importance of maintaining the party’s dignity after internal political processes. He acknowledged that differences of opinion are a natural part of democratic organizational dynamics. However, he stressed that unity and the party’s collective interests must always take precedence.

Freny encouraged all PPP cadres in Central Papua to use the Regional Congress as momentum to strengthen solidarity. With the formation of the new leadership structure, he expressed hope that all elements of the party would move in the same direction in implementing agreed-upon programs and strategies.

In his statement, Freny also reaffirmed the commitment of PPP Central Papua to continue supporting the Central Papua Bright Coalition (Koalisi Papua Tengah Terang). He further expressed support for the vision and mission of Central Papua Governor Meki Frits Nawipa. According to Freny, strong synergy between political parties and regional governments is essential to ensure development policies remain focused on the public interest.

Additionally, Freny delivered a message to PPP cadres who plan to run in the Legislative Elections (Pileg) or Regional Head Elections (Pilkada). He urged them to actively engage in party programs and organizational activities. He emphasized that political participation should not be limited to electoral competition alone but should also be demonstrated through concrete programs that directly benefit the community.

The Regional Congress of PPP across Papua Raya was also combined with the commemoration of the 53rd anniversary of PPP Papua Induk. This milestone added symbolic value to the event and served as a moment of reflection on the party’s long journey within Indonesia’s national political landscape, particularly in the Papua region.

The opening ceremony of the Regional Congress was attended by several prominent figures and government officials. Among those present were Papua Governor Mathius D. Fakhiri, a representative of the Papua High Prosecutor’s Office Rahman Tulus, Jayapura Mayor Abisai Rollo, and Jayapura Deputy Mayor Rustan Saru. Leaders of political parties within the Papua Cerah Coalition were also in attendance.

The presence of the PPP central leadership further underscored the significance of the event. PPP Chairman Muhamad Mardiono attended alongside Secretary General Taj Yasin Maimoen and other members of the central executive board. Six heads of PPP Regional Executive Councils from across Papua Raya, including Freny Anouw as the newly elected head of PPP Central Papua, as well as district-level party officials from various regions, participated throughout the congress.

With the conclusion of the Regional Congress, PPP in the Papua Raya region is expected to move forward with stronger internal cohesion. Freny Anouw’s leadership in Central Papua is viewed as part of a broader effort to reinforce party structures and to prepare strategic, long-term steps toward the 2029 General Election in a systematic and sustainable manner.
