PAPUAAROUND – An earthquake with a magnitude (M) of 4.1 rocked Jayapura City, Papua. The epicenter reported an extension on the ground.
Earthquake information was submitted by the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) on Friday (17/2/2023). The earthquake occurred at 12.45 WIB.
“Earthquake (UPDATE) Mag: 4.1,” wrote BMKG on its Twitter account @infoBMKG.
BMKG reported the location of the earthquake was at 2.50 south latitude and 140.70 east longitude. The earthquake had a depth of 10 kilometers.
“The epicenter was on land 4 km northwest of Jayapura City,” the BMKG added.
The earthquake was felt (MMI) on a scale III-IV in Jayapura City. That is, vibrations are felt by several people, light hanging objects sway.
Until now there have been no reports regarding the impact of the earthquake in Jayapura, Papua.
