Papuaaround.com – The Papua Regional Police confirmed they will deploy their full strength to ensure security during a planned rally in Jayapura on Monday, September 1, 2025. Authorities emphasized that safeguarding public order and maintaining peace remain top priorities in Jayapura Demonstration.
According to the Papua Police spokesperson, a total of 9.300 personnel will be on duty. This figure represents nearly two-thirds of the 14,000 officers serving under the Papua Police. The deployment plan was finalized following a troop roll call held at the Papua Police Headquarters on Sunday, August 31, 2025, which was led by the Deputy Chief of Papua Police, Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani.
The spokesperson explained that the mobilization will be carried out under strict adherence to legal procedures and operational standards. The police will focus on protecting public safety, securing vital facilities, and ensuring that demonstrations proceed in an orderly manner. “We are prioritizing public order, the safety of the community, and the security of police personnel and command centers,” he stated.
Local police units in Jayapura have also prepared a series of measures to support the larger operation. The Jayapura City Police have mapped out several high-priority areas, including the Papua Regional Legislative Council building, Mobile Brigade headquarters, and other critical points across the city. Authorities said these locations will receive heightened monitoring to prevent potential disruptions.
In anticipation of increased activity on social media during the rally, police urged residents to exercise caution when consuming and sharing online content. The spokesperson reminded the public not to spread unverified information that could fuel unrest or panic. “Papua is a land of peace. Do not allow yourself to be provoked. Verify information before sharing it,” he said firmly.
The police also appealed to residents to support efforts in maintaining a calm atmosphere. They called on the community to continue with their normal routines and avoid being influenced by rumors or misleading narratives that may circulate. “Let us keep the situation under control so that daily activities in Jayapura can continue without fear or unnecessary concern,” the spokesperson added.
While authorities confirmed that security forces will be fully mobilized, they also stressed the importance of collaboration between law enforcement and the community. The police highlighted that public participation is vital in ensuring a peaceful environment during and after the demonstration.
The large-scale deployment reflects both the scale of the planned protest and the authorities’ determination to prevent escalation. By positioning thousands of officers across strategic locations, the Papua Police aim to provide reassurance to the public and to deter potential disturbances.
With the rally scheduled to take place on Monday, security operations in Jayapura demonstration are expected to intensify. The police reiterated their commitment to maintaining peace while balancing law enforcement duties with respect for citizens’ rights to express their aspirations through lawful demonstrations.
