Jayapura – Eight telecommunications network workers were shot dead by an armed criminal group in Beoga district, Puncak Regency, Papua, on Wednesday (2 March 2022).
The victim was shot while repairing Tower Base Transceiver Station (BTS) 3 in Telkomsel, which is located in a highland without road access.
“Eight PTT employees died as a result of this attack, and as seen through CCTV footage from the PTT Tower, one of the PTT employees who is still alive is named NS and is seeking help at BTS Tower 3,” said Kapendam XVII/Cenderawasih Colonel Inf. Evacuation
According to him, the process of evacuating the victims could not be carried out because the location of the incident could only be reached by helicopter.
Meanwhile, the current weather does not allow pick-up.
“It is possible that the Papuan Police and also the assistance of the XVII/Cenderawasih Military Command together will help with the evacuation and of course the Papuan Police will look for the killer because this is an extraordinary crime,” said Aqsha.
Attack Kodim Personnel
Apart from attacking telecommunications network workers, continued Aqsha, KKB also attacked the personnel of the Puncak Jaya Kodim in Beoga.
“Today there has been another attack and shooting by KKB against TNI soldiers against TNI personnel at the Dambet Koramil Post, Kodim Yonif R 408/SBH Task Force in Dambet Village, Beoga District,” he said.
The shooting occurred at around 12.45 WIT on Thursday (3 March 2022) when 12 officers from the Dambet Koramil Post were patrolling about 50 meters from the Koramil Post while repairing waterways.
While repairing the water channel, KKB suddenly attacked and fired at TNI members who were on patrol.
“Based on the report of the Task Force, there are about 15 members of the KKB, some carrying three long-barreled weapons,” he added.
The shooting had been going on for some time, and members of the Dambet Koramil Post managed to dissuade and prevent KKB from retreating to the village of Ogamki in Beoga District.
Aqsha said that a TNI personnel on behalf of Pratu Herianto suffered a gunshot wound to the neck below the ear as a result of the shot.
The victim is now conscious and taken to the Beoga Health Center.
“On Friday (4/3/2022) Prata Erianto will be evacuated to Timika by plane for further treatment,” said Aqsha.
