Yalimo – Security forces from the Cartenz 2025 Peace Operations Task Force have successfully arrested Aske Mabel, a police sergeant from the Yalimo Police.
The arrest was made on Wednesday (19/2) at 06.30 WIT in Abenaho District, Yalimo Regency. In this operation, the authorities also managed to confiscate four AK2000P firearms carried by Aske Mabel.
Aske Mabel has long been hiding behind a series of acts of terror and unspeakable crimes. He is responsible for various criminal acts that have created fear in the community, including:
– Depriving residents of peace, creating fear and social instability in Yalimo.
– Taking four firearms from the Yalimo Police, which were then used to strengthen criminal actions.
– Being the mastermind behind seven murders and shootings, with victims from both civilians and security forces.
– Carrying out three burnings and vandalisms, which left deep suffering for the people of Yalimo Regency.
Previously, in developing the case, the authorities asked the detective Aske Mabel to show the location of the second weapon storage. However, when he was near the ravine, the perpetrator resisted and tried to escape. Seeing this situation, the authorities acted decisively and paralyzed the perpetrator according to law enforcement procedures. Thus, all of the weapons have been successfully secured.
Head of the Cartenz 2025 Peace Operation, Brigadier General Pol. Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., accompanied by the Deputy Chief of the Cartenz 2025 Peace Operation, Senior Commissioner Pol. Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., appreciated the success of the team in the field in capturing the DPO police detective Aske Mabel who had long haunted the residents of Yalimo.
“Law enforcement against the Aske Mabel deserter is a strategic step to suppress acts of armed violence in the Papua Mountains. We will continue to develop to uncover the network of this group and ensure public safety,” said Brigadier General Faizal.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Public Relations Task Force for the Cartenz 2025 Peace Operation, Senior Commissioner of Police. Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., appreciated the work of the team in the field who had succeeded in capturing the Aske Mabel deserter who had been disturbing the community.
“This success is the fruit of the hard work and courage of the Cartenz 2025 Peace Operation Task Force members who never tire in the dense Papuan wilderness, as well as the support of the community who never stop hoping for justice. Now, we are grateful that the truth has been upheld, and peace has returned to the people of Yalimo,” said Senior Commissioner Yusuf.
The authorities are still continuing to develop and conduct further investigations to ensure that there are no remaining criminal networks formed by the police deserter Aske Mabel who are still operating in the area.
With the arrest of the deserter Aske Mabel, it is hoped that security and stability in Yalimo will be increasingly guaranteed.
