papuaaround.com – The development of road and bridge infrastructure in Papua does not always run smoothly and faces various challenges.
Judging from the weather and natural conditions, almost all of it is still forest and the geographical conditions are quite tough.
This was conveyed at the National Road Implementation Center (BPJN) of West Papua Province, Directorate General (DG) of Highways, Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing Gunadi Antariksa in a release, Sunday (5/6/2022).
“The challenges in the construction of road and bridge infrastructure in Papua include weather conditions, and natural conditions in almost all parts of which are still forests and geographical conditions are quite harsh,” explained Gunardi.
So far, the PUPR Ministry is building 29 bridges on the Merauke-Sorong section of Teluk Wondama Regency, West Papua.
The bridge is part of the continuation of the Trans-Papua Toll Road program which will open up remote areas and improve connectivity between provinces/cities in the province.

Overall, the 511.5 meter long bridge was built through six work packages with a budget of Rp 236.55 billion in the 2022 fiscal year (FY).
The bridge construction options include the Kampung Muri-Kwatisore Bridge (Papua border) I with a length of 90 meters.
Then, the Kampung Muri-Kwatisore Bridge (Papua Province border) II is 96.5 meters long and is part of the construction of the Trans Papua Merauke-Sorong section.
The work packages for the two bridges were built through the Multi Year Contract (MYC) program or 2022-2024 multi-year contracts for the construction of 21 bridges.
Including 21 bridge packages, namely the Kampung Muri-Kwatisore Bridge I with 10 bridges and the Kampung Muri-Kwatisore II Bridge Package with 11 bridges.
Meanwhile, a budget of Rp 93.2 billion has been allocated in 2022.
In addition, according to the contract, the planned construction of the 74-meter Telaga I Cs Bridge will be implemented starting January 24, 2022 and the current progress is 7.38%.
The Telaga I Cs Bridge work package is budgeted from the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) of Rp. 33.2 billion for a Single Year Contract (SYC) or a One-Year Contract for the 2022 FY.
In this contract, it consists of 4 bridges, namely Telaga Bridge 1, 2 and 3 each 18 meters long and Telaga 4 bridge 20 meters long.
Then, the package for the construction of the 73.6-meter Werianggi-Ambuni bridge that connects Windesi Regency and Kuri Wamesa District.
