PapuaAround.com – The sobs of health workers accompanied the procession of releasing the bodies of Sri Lestari Indah Putri (33) and her husband, Sertu Eka Andrianto Hasugian (28).

Sri and Sergeant Eka were found dead at their residence, Jalan Trans Elelim, Yalimo Regency, Papua, Thursday (31/3/2022).

According to the information from the Deputy Head of Information for the XVII/Cenderawasih Military Command (Wakapendam), Lt. Col. Inf. Candra Kurniawan, a husband and wife (couple) were allegedly killed by an unknown person (OTK).

Sri was injured by a sharp object, while Sergeant Eka was injured by a bullet.

After being buried in Hall 751/VJS in Sentani, the couple’s bodies were flown to Surabaya, East Java for burial in their hometown.

The bodies were evacuated from Sentani Airport, Jayapura, Papua, at 14:47 WIT, Friday (1/4/2022).

Hero of Humanity

Head of the Indonesian Midwives Association of Papua Province, Dionesia Pri Utami, said Sri is a hero of humanity because she has contributed to the health of people in remote areas.

Sri was a midwife at the Elelim Health Center for five years.

Dionesia said the incident made her worried, sad and angry.

The commander of Korem 172/PWY Brigadier General Izak Pangemanan said the pair had served in Elelim for a long time and got along well with local residents.

Izak explained that the incident occurred when Sertu Eka and his family lived in the shop where they did business.

Currently, the case of the murder of the TNI member and his wife is being investigated by the Yalimo Resort Police (Polres).

“It is true that members of the Yalimo Police are investigating the death of the couple who were shot and tortured to death on Thursday morning (31/3). It has not been confirmed who did it.
