Papuaaround.com – The distribution of ballot materials for the revote (Pemungutan Suara Ulang/PSU) in the 2024 Boven Digoel Regent and Deputy Regent Election is currently underway, following a decision by the Constitutional Court. On Monday, August 4, 2025, the Boven Digoel Police, in collaboration with the 1711 Military District Command (Kodim 1711), deployed security personnel to safeguard the transportation of election logistics from the central warehouse to designated polling stations (TPS).
The distribution, which began on July 31, has now entered its third day. Of the 20 districts in Boven Digoel, logistics for 15 districts have been successfully delivered. The process continues in a phased and secure manner, with police officers providing full escorts to ensure safety and order.
Operational Division Head of Boven Digoel Police, AKP Hajarka, emphasized the role of the police in maintaining a fair and democratic election process. “The police are here to guarantee that the election is conducted directly, openly, freely, confidentially, honestly, and fairly. Every officer has been trained to act professionally, remain neutral, and uphold a human-centered approach,” he stated.
He further explained that with structured and measured security planning, authorities expect the entire revote process at every polling station to proceed safely and smoothly, ultimately producing leaders elected through a credible democratic mechanism.
On Sunday, August 3, logistics were dispatched to multiple districts including Subur, KI, Kawagit, Ninati, Mindiptana, Sesnuk, Waropko, and Manggelum. Earlier, on the second day of distribution (Saturday, August 2), ballot materials were flown from Tanah Merah Airport to five districts: Ambatkwi, Bomakia, Fofi, Kombay, and Yaniruma. For District Jair, transportation was carried out by land using trucks.
The operation has seen the involvement of various stakeholders. The distribution event was attended by prominent officials from both provincial and regional election bodies. Among those present were South Papua Provincial KPU Chair Theresia Mahuze, Bawaslu South Papua Chair Marman, S.Sos, commissioners Benediktus Tukidjo and Yustina Weyrop, and financial and logistics coordinator Marselus Celes Eddy Rianto. From the Boven Digoel regency level, KPU Chair Paulus Kairen Oropka and Bawaslu Chair Bernad Warumap were also in attendance, alongside other KPU and Bawaslu commissioners and logistics officers.
Police senior officers, logistics transport partners, and district-level election committee representatives also joined the operation to oversee the secure and accurate movement of materials.
The Boven Digoel Police have coordinated closely with the military and relevant agencies to manage the logistical challenges posed by the region’s remote and rugged terrain. While some areas require air transport due to limited accessibility, others are reachable by land, demanding flexibility and high-level coordination from all parties involved.
The logistics distribution is expected to be completed shortly, ahead of the revote day. Authorities continue to monitor developments closely to ensure that all electoral procedures are conducted according to law and without incident.
