Jayapura – PT Freeport Indonesia on Wednesday (9/3/2022) handed over bonuses to Papuan athletes who won medals at the 2021 PON XX at Building B of the Kotaraja Regional Autonomous Office.
The total bonus for athletes is Rp. 4.9 billion, which is divided into Rp. 1 billion for the men’s soccer team and Rp. 3.9 billion for gold medalists from 36 sports.
Elia Loupatty, Secretary General of PB PON Papua, presented the prize to Eduard Ivakdalam, coach of the Men’s Football Team PON XX Papua, witnessed by Denni J. Rumayomi, representative of PT Freeport.
“This is an athlete coaching process, and this achievement can be achieved under the guidance of PB PON and KONI, also because the athletes’ efforts are very focused on participating in training,” said Danni J Rumayomi, representative of PT Freeport Indonesia.
Through this bonus distribution, he hopes that the achievements that have been achieved can be maintained and improved in the future.
“Therefore, the achievements of Papuan athletes will not stop at the XX PON event, but in subsequent events,” he said.
On the same occasion, Elia Loupatty, General Secretary of PB PON Papua, thanked Freeport for the assistance provided by Papua’s outstanding athletes.
Later, the aid funds will be directly transferred to the account of PB PON XX Papua.
“Let’s just continue, for example men’s soccer, with a gold medal of 1 billion rupiah. Now, how the distribution will be in the future will be a team problem (soccer) and we will not intervene as well as PT Freeport, “said Elia.
Eduard Ivakdalam, coach of the Papuan men’s soccer team PON XX, thanked PT. Freeport Indonesia against Papuan elite athletes.
He also encouraged the athlete’s achievements to continue to improve, especially in addition to Freeport Indonesia, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Eric Thohir and Head of Asprov PSSI Papua Ben Hutomimano have provided similar assistance.
