PAPUAAROUND – Papua Community Leader, Thaha Alhamid appealed to all people in Papua to create a peaceful atmosphere ahead of the 2024 general election.

Thaha Alhamid, Saturday, said that the public must be reminded to maintain peace, both in the real world and in cyberspace, so that the 2024 General Election can run smoothly, safely and conducively.

“The community plays an important role in creating peaceful elections and supporting the government, KPU and all other parties. Therefore, peace must be maintained so that the elections can run smoothly without any riots or even bloodshed,” he said.

According to Thaha, asking all elements of society to oversee the election and maintain peace, as well as enthusiasm and participation.

“And one more thing, don’t be white (abstentions) or don’t exercise your right to choose presidential and legislative candidates because people’s choices determine the future of this country,” he said.

He explained that his party also hoped that the public would be wise in using the media and not be provoked by existing comments.

“Differences are natural because everyone has a choice, but everyone must respect each other,” he said again.

He also reminded the Papua people that they must be able to play an important role in creating peaceful elections, because elections are an arena for electing leaders and candidates for members of parliament so that they should not be made a place of war or hostilities because they overly support certain political parties or regional head candidates.
