Papuaaround.com – Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, briefed President Prabowo Subianto on the latest developments in the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program, with a particular focus on Papua. According to Dadan, the program has now been implemented in all 38 provinces, including the recent rollout in Central Papua.
“I reported on the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal program, which, as of today, has been fully rolled out in 38 provinces. The Central Papua province officially began the program today,” Dadan stated after meeting with Prabowo at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Monday, February 24, 2025.
Expansion of Nutrition Service Units in Papua
Dadan also highlighted the expansion of Nutrition Service Units (SPPG), particularly in Papua, where additional facilities have been established to support the program. An additional 117 units have been set up nationwide, bringing the total number to 693, with a focus on improving access in remote regions like Papua.
“Today, we have added 117 new Nutrition Service Units, bringing the total to 693 across Indonesia, including several key locations in Papua to enhance service delivery,” he reported.
Addressing Nutritional Needs in Papua
Within less than two months, the Free Nutritious Meal program has reached all provinces, including Papua, where logistical challenges have been addressed to ensure effective distribution. The program aims to expand its reach further, targeting two million beneficiaries within the coming week.
“In just 1.5 months, we have successfully implemented the program in all 38 provinces and 693 Nutrition Service Units. This week, we are set to serve more than two million beneficiaries, including many in Papua, where we are prioritizing nutritional access for remote communities,” Dadan added.
The Free Nutritious Meal or MBG program is a key government initiative aimed at improving public health and nutrition, particularly for vulnerable communities. In Papua, where malnutrition remains a concern, the program’s expansion underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing food security and nutritional well-being in the region.
