PAPUAAROUND – The KPU RI will soon establish constituencies (Dapil) of the DPR RI, DPR Provincial and DPRD in three new autonomous regions (DOB) in Papua.
Diana Simbiak, Chairperson of the Papua Provincial KPU, said that her party had submitted the results of the public test to the KPU RI on January 31, 2023, and then it would be determined that the dapil would be selected at three DOBs in Papua on February 9, 2023.
He explained that his party conducted the first public test on January 17, 2023 in Papua Province, then on January 18, 2023 in Papua Plateau Province and on January 19, 2023 in South Papua and Central Papua Provinces.

He said that there will be a possibility of changes in the electoral districts in each expansion area because it is based on the Government Regulation in Lieu of Law (Perppu) whose electoral calculation is based on the number of residents.
“So that when we conduct a public test, it still relies on the Perpu because the number of seats for members of the DPR RI, provincial parliament and dprd has been allocated,” he said.
He added that from the results of the three-day public test conducted in four provinces in Bumi Cenderawasih, all participants from both the 18 political parties (Parpol) participating in the election and all traditional and community leaders had all agreed.
“In addition, the public test also involved representatives from each district of each province present and all also agreed,” he said.
