KPK Examines the Chairman of the Papua People’s Assembly regarding the Lukas Enembe Corruption Case

PAPUAAROUND – Head of the Corruption Eradication Commission’s Reporting Section, Ali Fikri, said the chairman of the Papuan People’s Council Timotius Murib had undergone questioning on February 20, 2023. He said Murib was being questioned to trace the alleged flow of funds to Papua Governor Lukas Enembe.

Ali explained that Timotius Murib was present and gave his statement to the KPK investigation team. He said an audit was carried out to find out how the flow of funds from bribes and gratuities was carried out by Lukas Enembe.

“On Monday, February 20, 2023, the investigation team at the Jakarta Red and White Building KPK examined a witness,” Ali said in a written statement, Wednesday (22/2/2023).

Apart from that, said Ali, the study was conducted to confirm several things. One of them is the alleged flow of funds resulting from bribes from Lukas Enembe to Timotius Murib.

“Including the confirmation of the purchase of assets from the money received by the suspect,” said Ali.

Timothy Murib is not the only person summoned by the KPK on the agenda for the examination. Ali said there were four other people who were also examined in the same context.

“The witnesses were Dessy Irriani Yelepele as a housewife, Dani Fitri Yelepele as the wife of witness Yonater Karomba, Heni Nurhaeni as a housewife, and Austikarini Ambar Wati as commissioner.

In this case, the KPK suspects that Lukas Enembe received money worth Rp. 1 billion from the Director of PT Tabi Bangun Papua, Rijantono Lakka. Rijantono asked that his company win tenders for several long-term development projects in Papua.
