PAPUAAROUND – The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) of the Republic of Indonesia asked the local government (Pemda) to strengthen the promotion of tourism village tourism in Jayapura Regency, Papua through a digital platform.

“Yoboi Village, Jayapura Regency, Papua in 2021 is included in the 50 best tourist villages in the Appreciation of Indonesian Tourism Villages. Therefore, digital promotion is needed,” said the Director of Archipelagic Tourism Marketing at the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Dwi Marhen Yono in Sentani, Tuesday.

He said according to the instructions of the Indonesian Minister of Parekraf that Yoboi tour packages were sold on a digital platform at the national level.

“Promotion in a tourism business is very important in the era of technology, we also have to renew promotion methods to the wider community,” he said.

According to Dwi Marhen, Kampung Yoboi will be upgraded in the sense that previously manual promotions will be made in digital form so that they are better known and have a wider reach.

“We ask the Jayapura Regency Government and the Papua Provincial Government to pay attention to Yoboi so that we can upgrade it together,” he said.

He added that apart from being a tourist village, later Yoboi can become a fish village, for this reason, relevant agencies can take part in this section.

“The Jayapura Regency Fisheries Service and the Provincial level can provide assistance in the form of fish and nets so that the people in Yoboi are increasingly empowered both in terms of tourism and fisheries,” he said again.
