Edison Manikiuta: Nutritious Food Is Essential for Papua’s Health and Progress

Mimika, Papua – Edison Manikiuta, a youth leader from the Kamoro tribe in Mimika Regency, has voiced his aspirations regarding the government’s initiative to provide nutritious food. According to Edison, this program is crucial for the people of Papua, particularly those living in regencies, mountainous regions, and coastal areas. He made this statement on Sunday, February 16, 2025.

Edison emphasized that daily food intake plays a vital role in children’s growth and the overall quality of life for Papuans. “Inadequate food quality can negatively impact the younger generation’s development and the community’s health in general,” he stated.

Furthermore, he urged the Mimika Regency Government, the Papua Provincial Government, and the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, to swiftly implement the nutritious food program. “We request that this program be realized as soon as possible and distributed equitably across Papua, especially in remote areas,” he added.

The nutritious food program is seen as a key solution to tackling malnutrition and stunting, which remain serious challenges in Papua. Edison hopes that with this initiative, Papuans will gain access to high-quality food that supports their growth and well-being.

“We believe this program will bring positive changes for Papua’s future. A healthy and intelligent generation is the key to the region’s progress,” Edison concluded.

As a youth leader, he remains committed to advocating for the government to address the fundamental needs of Papuans, particularly in nutrition. He also expressed readiness to collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure the program is effectively and appropriately implemented.
