PapuaAround.com – In a strategic move underscoring the Indonesian National Police’s (Polri) commitment to maintaining security and order in Papua, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has officially appointed Brigadier General Patrige Petrus Rudolf Renwarin as the new Papua Police Chief. Brigadier General Patrige, who previously served as the Deputy Papua Police Chief, will replace Commissioner General Mathius D Fakhiri, who has been reassigned as the Chief Policy Analyst for the Mobile Brigade Corps (Brimob) within the Polri.

This decision is outlined in the Police Chief’s Telegram regarding Polri’s personnel rotation, Letter Number ST/1845/VIII/KEP./2024, issued on August 28, 2024. “This shift in leadership is in accordance with the Police Chief’s decision, as stated in Telegram Number ST/1845/VIII/KEP./2024,” said the Papua Police Public Relations Head, Commissioner Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, in a statement on Thursday, August 29, 2024.

This rotation is part of Polri’s efforts to enhance the performance of all its units, particularly in Papua, which requires specialized security handling. Commissioner Ignatius added that this leadership change is expected to strengthen the synergy among units within the Papua Police and ensure that security and stability in the region are well maintained.

Brigadier General Patrige with An Impressive Track Record

Brigadier General Patrige Renwarin is a well-known figure in Papua’s law enforcement community. Born in Fakfak on July 7, 1969, he is a graduate of the Indonesian National Police Academy (Akpol) class of 1991 and has held various key positions throughout his career. His extensive experience, especially in the field of intelligence, makes him a fitting choice to lead the Papua Police in addressing the region’s unique challenges.

Before his appointment as Papua Police Chief, Brigadier General Patrige served as the Deputy Papua Barat Police Chief in 2020, where he played an active role in maintaining security in the region. Additionally, he has held several strategic positions, including Head of Public Relations for the Papua Police in 2015, Director of Intelligence and Security for the Papua Police in 2018, and Inspector of Regional Supervision (Irwasda) for the Papua Police in 2020.

Throughout his career, Brigadier General Patrige has been known for his high level of dedication and strong managerial skills. “His extensive experience in intelligence and his leadership abilities make Brigadier General Patrige the right person to take on the role of Papua Police Chief,” Commissioner Ignatius Benny remarked.

Alongside Brigadier General Patrige’s appointment as Papua Police Chief, Commissioner General Mathius D Fakhiri, the outgoing Papua Police Chief, will now serve as the Chief Policy Analyst in the Brimob Corps. This rotation is expected to allow him to contribute more effectively to the strategic policy aspects of Polri, particularly in tactical and operational matters within the Brimob unit.

Moreover, the position of Deputy Papua Police Chief, previously held by Brigadier General Patrige, will be filled by Brigadier General Faizal Ramdani. Brigadier General Faizal formerly served as the Head of the Damai Cartenz Operations Task Force, an operation focused on addressing security disturbances in Papua. His experience in this operation demonstrates his strategic capabilities in managing complex situations in Papua.
