PapuaAround.com – There was a notable incident at Sentani Airport in Jayapura on Friday (10/5), marking the theft of a Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob) Patrol Car by an unidentified individual. This event occurred around 2:00 PM local time when the perpetrator boldly got into the parked vehicle and swiftly fled the scene.
According to statements from Jayapura Police Chief AKBP Fredrickus W.A Maclarimboen, the car was intended for use by personnel from the Papua Regional Brimob Unit to pick up members of the Peace Task Force “Cartenz” arriving at Sentani Airport. However, law enforcement officers promptly pursued the thief, eventually managing to disable him near the city limits with the assistance of representatives from the “Cartenz” Peace Task Force and Airport Police.
“The perpetrator was successfully incapacitated (shot) near the city limits after being chased by representatives from the ‘Cartenz’ Peace Task Force and assisted by Airport Police personnel,” explained Fredrickus.
Following the theft incident, the perpetrator was promptly taken to Bhayangkara Kotaraja Hospital for further medical treatment. Currently, he is conscious and receiving intensive care.
Fredrickus refrained from providing further details regarding the perpetrator’s identity and motives, citing the ongoing medical treatment.
“The perpetrator is still undergoing treatment for injuries sustained when apprehended by law enforcement. Therefore, he has not yet been able to provide further information,” Fredrickus added.
