Biak Health Office Prepares Second Covid-19 Booster Vaccine Service

PAPUAAROUND – The Health Office of Biak Numfor Regency, Papua, is preparing a second booster COVID-19 vaccination service to the general public, but is still waiting for the arrival of the vaccine from the Papua Provincial Government or the central government.

Reporting from ANTARA, Sunday, the Head of Disease Prevention Control (P2P) of the Biak Health Office Numfor Ruslan Epid in Biak said that the ranks of the Health Office have prepared all government health facilities to be able to serve the public to get the second booster vaccination.

“In terms of facilities and vaccination workers, the Health Office has prepared, yes currently the Health Office is just waiting for the arrival of the second booster vaccine so that it can serve the general public,” said Ruslan

Ruslan Epid said the second booster vaccination requirement is prioritized for those who have been getting the first booster vaccination for more than six months.

At the same time, all targets of the second booster booster vaccine for people over the age of 18 are required to get a second booster.

Ruslan explained that the government implemented the administration of a second booster vaccine to accelerate vaccination to strengthen immunity as protection or prevention against COVID-19.

The second booster vaccination service is contained in the Circular Letter of the Director General of Disease Prevention and Control Number HK.02.02/C/380/2023 concerning the 2nd Booster Dose COVID-19 Vaccination for General Public Groups which was established on January 20, 2023.

And based on the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs (Imendagri) Number 53 of 2022 concerning Prevention and Control of COVID-19 during the Transition Period towards Endemy.

Based on vaccination achievements in Biak Numfor Regency until January 2023, it was recorded for vaccine one 94.08 percent or 70,481 people, vaccine two 62.28 percent or 46,894 people, booster one 24.14 percent or 18,176 people.
